School Fund

You will be aware that all schools are facing a very difficult financial situation with cuts in funding. We have a sound history of employing our budget wisely to ensure that the pupils benefit to the utmost from our funding.

However we are also an ambitious school and want to provide the very best experiences and facilities for our students and our aim is to maintain these high standards in what is increasingly a challenging environment for schools. Gifts from former pupils and parents, staff and other friends of the school have been spent on a variety of projects. All these projects successfully provided new facilities and opportunities for the direct and immediate benefit of LGGS students.

Giving to the School is a valuable way of supporting LGGS and the next generation. If you are able to make a donation to the LGGS Fund, you will be making a real difference to the facilities at LGGS and to the lives of all our students.

Our goal is to seek participation from everyone connected with the LGGS community by asking you to consider making a donation, regardless of how big or small the gift. Whether you are able to pledge a modest amount or to contribute on a monthly basis, it would be greatly appreciated and it would help us to achieve the very best for our students.

We have recently used money from our school charity fund to help support with our provision, this includes:

  • Providing additional mental health support and counselling
  • Purchasing new curriculum materials including a pottery wheel, new gym mats, Geography field work equipment
  • Purchasing outdoor and indoor dining tables to provide more space to eat at break and lunch
  • Providing transport to sporting fixtures

We also continue to use the fund to help students in need of financial assistance.

Moving forwards, we are planning to use our school funds in the following ways.

Short term:
  • Creating a new larger prayer and reflection room
  • Resurface the area outside of the Art block to produce an additional outdoor seating area
  • Other landscaping around the site, including Pear Tree Garden to provide more spaces for students to socialise.
Longer term:
  • Creating a larger indoor dining hall with a ground floor kitchen
  • Purchasing a school minibus to use for sports fixtures and other activities
  • Further buildings development including additional specialist teaching spaces e.g. Sports hall, Science Labs etc.

Any donation no matter how small makes a difference. For example, if every family contributed £10 per month with Gift Aid, then this would provide around £144,000 additional funds.
